Spread a Smile delights families with Glitter and Glow Festive Party
Spread a Smile held their festive Glitter & Glow party on Sunday 4th December, inviting over 350 guests to celebrate and have fun. Children and teenagers that the charity have supported and entertained whilst receiving treatment at Great Ormond Street, UCH and The Royal London Hospital were invited along with their siblings and parents to an extravaganza at the London Marriott Hotel Regents Park.
The party was a chance for the guests to have a good time with their families and create some wonderful and uplifting memories together. There was so much to see and do! There were arts and crafts activities: the kids could design their own t-shirts; create sand art collectibles; make foam clay handicrafts; and design cool bracelets. The children made their very own cuddly teddy bears, husky dogs and reindeers to adopt and take home. Science Boffins entertained with explosive science experiments, and Miss Ballooniverse and her assistant made magnificent balloon creations for the kids to take home.
There was a Lola’s cupcakes stand where the guests could design a scrumptious cake – some were covered with so many sprinkles you couldn’t see the cake! Other delicious delights at the party included an ice cream from the Ice Cream Cab, candy floss, and sweets from a sweetie stall.
Guests felt glamorous with manicures, fun glitter tattoos and fabulous face painting. And there was the chance to let their hair down in the funky photo booth, on a simulated snowboard, and graffitiing their own pictures on a graffiti wall!
Spread a Smile magicians, fairies, singers, a poet and even Supergirl wandered around entertaining the guests, ensuring the smiles never left their faces. Gorgeous PAT dog Cassie was there to provide cuddles. Famous Pudsey Bear from BBC Children in Need made an appearance too.
The event also saw the launch of Spread a Smile’s wonderful new mascot, Buddy Bear, designed by Caris Baughan. Huggable Buddy will be accompanying Spread a Smile entertainers on hospital visits. Buddy and Caris danced with the children, while Spread a Smile’s Collette Spinner led the fun on the disco floor!
The event was sponsored by Lawsons and the firm’s incredible support made the party out-of-this-world! Thanks also to The London Marriott Hotel Regents Park for donating the rooms and to all of the companies who gave their services for free or at a reduced rate. Thanks to them for helping us to create memories that will last a lifetime.
