Spread a Smile takes 33 Great Ormond Street families to Disney’s The Lion King
Spread a Smile was delighted to take 33 families from Great Ormond Street Hospital to Disney’s The Lion King on Wednesday 5th February. This was Spread a Smile’s first day out for families we entertain in the hospital.
Despite a Tube strike and pouring rain the day was a roaring success! A coach took our families and volunteers from Great Ormond Street Hospital to the Lyceum Theatre where we they were greeted by the amazing sight of the VIP room decorated with balloons.
We were extremely lucky to have a number of very generous companies who contributed to the day. Copious amounts of pizza were kindly provided by Basilico, delicious Spread a Smile cupcakes were produced by Lola’s Cupcakes, gifts were donated by Mirai and drinks were donated by JJ Foods. The families received goodies during the show and the Lyceum gave ice-creams for the families at the interval.
The children were delighted at the fantastic show which was followed by the highlight of the day, a meeting with the entire Lion King cast in costume and finally some goodie bags.
We’ve had some wonderful feedback from the day including this:
Today has been amazing! Everyone has been fantastic and we are so grateful for the opportunity to be a ‘normal’ family and have this invaluable experience. Thank you all so much.
All in all this was a wonderfully successful day. Thank you to Disney who helped make this day magical for all concerned.
I can't really explain just what a great charity it is and we as a family are grateful that you Let us make special memories. I wish we had known about you when my brother was alive. Please tell everyone.xxx
So thank you to everyone at Spread a Smile
